It looks like daily fantasy sports site FanDuel are jumping on the Pokémon GO craze.
In partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars, FanDuel will be hosting a Pokémon Safari. It will take place inside the EverBank Field stadium on July 25th. This is a little far away for UK fans, but perhaps we’ll be seeing similar efforts on our shores!
Registered Pokémon GO trainers will be able to use exclusive Pokéstops and gyms inside the stadium. These Jacksonville residents will be playing the augmented reality game where few have been able to before.
The first 1,000 trainers to complete the stadium’s self-guided tour will also receive an exclusive gym badge.
Jaguars Vice President of Marketing and Digital Media Steve Ziff is excited about the event. “We know that everyone has been all over Jacksonville playing Pokémon GO, but have not had the opportunity to play inside EverBank Field. That’s why we’re opening up the stadium for our fans.”
“We want all Jacksonville Pokémon trainers to be the very best and to catch ‘em all!”
Pokémon GO on the Sports Field
This isn’t the only time the popular new game has invaded sports. FanDuel Insider have reported on how Pokemon GO has infiltrated Major League Baseball.
For instance, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in North Carolina has been opened for players. Pokémon will be up for the catching while the team are playing away.
The team’s manager Mike Birling told the Bleacher Report: “The problem was, many of the Pokémon were on the field, and our fans weren’t able to catch them. With the team on the road for two weeks though, we thought this would be a perfect time to allow fans to catch the previously unattainable characters.”
Question is – can we dare to dream of Daily Fantasy Pokémon GO? +50 points if a trainer catches a Mew! We’ll probably have to wait for the very best trainers to present themselves first, though…
